Trusts and Estates Section

The Trusts and Estates Section is concerned with substantive and procedural laws governing trusts, probate estates, guardianships, conservatorships, and other matters affecting estate planning and administration. The section sponsors regular MCLE programs and Annual Probate Symposiums.

Five Reasons to Join the Trusts and Estates Section:

This is a time of unprecedented change for our practice area. As the only bar association with a countywide focus, we are uniquely positioned to bring you important developments when they occur, starting with the Los Angeles County Superior Court Probate Department.

1. The Programs
We offer a robust calendar of timely and practical courses throughout the county, many of which feature at least one active bench officer. The free “Brown Bag” lunch programs we host at Court provide unique insights directly from judges and court personnel along with MCLE credit. Our programs often sell out, but section members get the first announcement along with a substantial discount.

2. The Newsletter
Each month, we bring our section members important news from the Court, together with recent cases, legislative developments, and details on upcoming programs.

3. The Listserve
Got tricky questions? Our experienced practitioners are happy to answer them.

4. The Outreach
Our section offers unmatched pro bono opportunities to assist seniors, children, and people with disabilities, who frequently are members of underserved communities. Working closely with the Court, we provide the specialized training to fulfill this commitment.

5. The Networking
The Trusts and Estates Section is dedicated to maintaining our reputation for collegiality and mentoring. Every program provides an opportunity for those new to the field to meet seasoned  attorneys. Our annual Probate Department Reception brings bench and bar together in a relaxed environment.
