Los Angeles County Superior Court Updates:

Court Reporter Policy—Local Rule 2.21

  • Effective August 6, 2018, the Los Angeles Superior Court’s Court Reporter Availability policy is modified for civil litigation as follows: All limited civil proceedings will be electronically recorded by the Court to make the official verbatim record of proceedings as provided in Government Code section 69957, and California Rules of Court rule 2.952 and 2.956 (c). 

  • In unlimited civil proceedings, parties who have received a fee waiver pursuant to California Rules of Court rule 3.55(7) may timely request an official court reporter pursuant to California Rules of Court rule 2.956(b)(3) at least 10 calendar days prior to the hearing or trial on court form LACIV269.

Electronic-Filing (“E-Filing”)

  • Voluntary E-Filing:
    • Limited Civil – November 2018
    • Personal Injury – December 2018
    • Unlimited Civil – December 2018

  • Mandatory E-Filing, except self-represented litigants or any party by application and necessary showing pursuant to the Code of Civil Procedure and the California Rules of Court:
    • Limited Civil – December 2018
    • Complex – December 2018
    • Personal Injury – January 2019
    • Unlimited Civil – January 2019

Spring Street Courthouse Updates

  • Hours: 7:30 am to 5:30 pm

  • Eight (8) Complex Courtrooms
  • Five (5) Personal Injury (PI) Hub Courtrooms
  • Two (2) Long-Cause Courtrooms
  • Four (4) Settlement Courtrooms
  • One (1) Trial Courtroom

  • The 8th and 9th Floors of the Spring Street Courthouse are expected to be used by The Los Angeles Superior Court in/around Summer 2019

  • Filing for Spring Street cases is still done at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse. However, please serve courtesy copies of filings at the appropriate department at the Spring Street Courthouse.

Unlawful Detainer (UD) Courtrooms

  • Three (3) dedicated unlawful detainer (UD) trial courtrooms at Stanley Mosk Courthouse.
    • Interpreters available for trial courtrooms.

  • Two (2) dedicated unlawful detainer (UD) law & motion courtrooms at Stanley Mosk Courthouse.
    • Mediators available in law and motion courtrooms.
