LOS ANGELES COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT UPDATES
Holiday Closures
The Los Angeles Superior Court will be closed in observance of the following holidays:
- Veterans Day: Monday, November 11, 2019
- Thanksgiving Day: Thursday, November 28, 2019
- Day after Thanksgiving: Friday, November 29, 2019
Judicial Updates:
Judge Timothy Patrick Dillon will cover Judge Daniel S. Murphy’s IC courtroom (Department 32 at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse) while Judge Daniel S. Murphy covers for Judge Mary H. Strobel (Writs & Receivers), who will be on leave for six weeks. If needed, Judge Timothy Patrick Dillon will try Department 1 cases in Department 32.
Department Relocations:
- In January 2020, the following departments will relocate to the Eighth and Ninth Floors of the Spring Street Courthouse:
- Departments 2, 3, 4A, 4B, and 5 (the PI Hub) of the Spring Street Courthouse, currently on the Second Floor, and
- Department 94 (the Limited Hub) of the Stanley Mosk Courthouse.
- Four trial courtrooms will relocate from the Stanley Mosk Courthouse to the Second Floor of the Spring Street Courthouse.
- The court will post notices on its website as the moves are finalized.

Next Generation of CM/ECF:
On February 18, 2020, the Next Generation of CM/ECF will be live in the Central District of California and will require that all user accounts be upgraded in order to continue using the system. Increased Maximum File Size for Electronically Filed Documents:
The United States District Court for the Central District of California has increased the limit on the size of files to be uploaded to the Court’s Case Management/Electronic Case Filing (CM/ECF) system. The maximum size for electronically filed PDF documents is 35 megabytes (MB). Individual PDF files shall not exceed 35 MB in size, and shall contain no more than one document or portion of one document per file. PDF files that exceed 35 MB must be divided into sub-volumes.
