The Litigation Section's Brown Bag Lunch programs provide attorneys with the opportunity to speak with judges about a wide variety of topics. This year, Brown Bag Lunches will cover both federal and state court topics and are free to LACBA members. The bring-your-own lunches typically take place at a courthouse from 12:15-1:15.

Brown Bag Lunch: Protecting the Record
Please join our prominent appellate justices for an informal session in which they will discuss how trial lawyers can protect the record for a possible appeal. Topics will include issues relating to preserving legal record, and ensuring that the record contains what is necessary to present a compelling appellate argument.
Justices Ashmann-Gerst and Rubin, will discuss common pitfalls as well as tips and techniques to complete and protect your record. There will also be a Q&A session, where attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions about the tips and techniques shared.
This program is suitable for all levels of experience, from junior lawyers to seasoned practitioners.

1/31/19: Litigation Brown Bag Lunch: Litigating Discovery Motions in Federal Court
This panel will explore best practices for litigating discovery motions in federal court, including use of informal discovery conferences. In addition, the judges will share their views on how discovery motions can provide opportunities for younger lawyers to get oral argument experience in federal court.
