Securities Enforcement Program

The Securities Enforcement Program will be held on Friday, June 22 at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel at California Plaza. The program will focus on recent developments in securities enforcement and will include leading enforcement officials from the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office, as well as noted private practitioners.

FINRA Western Regional Office Hosts Executive Committee
 
On May 3, 2018, the Western Regional Office of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority hosted the Executive Committee of the Business & Corporations Law Section and their guests for a review of examination and enforcement priorities and emerging topics. Presenters included David Greene, District Director, Colleen Diles, Surveillance Director, Heidi Udagawa, Principal Coordinator, David Anderson, Examination Manager, and Han Nguyen, Examination Manager.

9th Annual Charity Golf Tournament & Networking Dinner

LACBA’s Counsel for Justice is holding its 9th Annual Golf Tournament and Networking Dinner on Monday, May 21, 2018, at MountainGate Country Club in Brentwood, CA. Join with friends and colleagues from across the L.A. community. The first half of the day starts at 9:00 a.m. with the arrival of golfers for a day of golf and contests. The second half of the day is a casual networking reception and dinner where a couple of hundred golfers and non-golfer guests interact. During the previous eight years, CFJ has netted almost $400,000 for projects helping thousands of our LA neighbors with their legal problems. This year with your help, CFJ intends to double its yearly average net.

51st Annual Securities Regulation Seminar

The 51st Annual Securities Regulation Seminar which is sponsored by LACBA’s Business & Corporations Law Section and the Securities and Exchange Commission, and co-sponsored by the California Department of Business Oversight and FINRA, will be held at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles on Friday, October 19, 2018. Please join us to meet the new leadership of the SEC and hear about their priorities and recent developments in securities and corporate law. Panelists will include Stephanie Avakian and Steve Peikin, Co-Directors of the Division of Enforcement.

2018 Installation & Awards Reception

LACBA is holding its 2018 Installation & Awards Reception on Wednesday, June 27, at the InterContinental Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles at 6:30 pm. Join members for the 2018-2019 installation of LACBA Officers and Board of Trustees, including Brian S. Kabateck as President, as well as other offices, and awards for outstanding service in LACBA leadership, including John Hartigan, a current member and former Chair of the Business & Corporations Law Section, who will receive the Outstanding Trustee Award. Net proceeds from this event will go to support LACBA's Legal Service Projects: Domestic Violence, Veterans, Immigration and AIDS.
