Barristers Spotlight

This month’s Barristers Spotlight is on Sharon G. Gelbart:

Sharon-Gelbart-portrait

Sharon G. Gelbart is a trial attorney at Hawxhurst Harris LLP, a boutique business litigation firm that Law360 has identified as one of “10 Boutiques Giving BigLaw A Run For Its Money.” Sharon has helped secure several of the firm’s recent high-stakes victories. This October, she was part of the trial team representing a leading energy shot manufacturer against antitrust claims brought by seven plaintiffs in the Central District of California. Following a nearly three-week trial, during which Sharon cross-examined witnesses and successfully argued in-trial motions, the jury returned a complete defense verdict as to each of the plaintiffs’ legal claims. Earlier this year, Sharon was an instrumental part of the firm team that, after substituting in as counsel of record for a Fortune 50 company, obtained partial summary judgment and an order decertifying a class of branded-gasoline purchasers who alleged various false advertising claims. This left the plaintiff, who had sought injunctive relief and class damages in excess of $60 million, with only an individual damages claim valued at less than $100.

Sharon is a proud “Double Bruin.” She earned her B.A. in economics and her J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles. Sharon has been recognized by Los Angeles magazine as a Southern California “Rising Star” each year since 2017 and currently serves as the President-Elect of the Barristers Section of LACBA. When not working, Sharon enjoys taking dance classes, traveling, and exploring new restaurants.
