Brian Sun to Receive the Jim Robie Professionalism and Civility Award at Bench Meets the Bar on March 20
This year’s prestigious Bench Meets the Bar Luncheon features the annual bestowment of the Jim Robie Professionalism and Civility Award to Brian A. Sun, a distinguished trial lawyer in complex business litigation and white collar defense.
The Award is given annually by LACBA’s Litigation Section to a Los Angeles trial lawyer whose career demonstrates the same qualities of professionalism, civility, service, enthusiasm and collegiality as the award’s namesake, Jim Robie.
At the March 20 event, the Litigation Section will honor Mr. Sun, partner-in-charge of the Los Angeles Office of Jones Day, for his breath of practice expertise in many areas including unfair competition, intellectual property, commercial bribery, public corruption, entertainment and fraud.
With clients from Global Fortune 300 institutions to high-profile individuals, Mr. Sun has exemplified the professionalism and civility established by the Award’s namesake, Jim Robie, an accomplished trial lawyer and consummate professional. Mr. Robie was a strong supporter of the Bench Meets Bar Luncheon and was tireless in his efforts of encourage collegiality between bench and bar.
In addition to his successful trial practice, Brian is a former president of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association and the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank. He also served as deputy general counsel to the Christopher Commission, which recommended sweeping reforms of the LAPD in the wake of the Rodney King incident.
