The Smashing Success of the 9th Annual LACBA/CFJ Charity Golf Tournament and Networking Dinner was Lauded by All!
Even though May 21 started out dreary and drizzly, the energy of our supporters, sponsors, lawyers, vendors, and friends and nearly 120 golfers helped to dry the weather. Even though we couldn’t bring out the sun, we collaboratively brought more excitement to this day than we had ever seen before. In building on our past successes we recognized that our energetic golfers were just a small part of our legal community so we expanded the reach of the golf tournament to include a special networking dinner for an additional 100 non-golfers. All enjoyed a great MountainGate Country Club Dinner while participating in the raffle prizes, awards, and silent auction.
Driven by the need of our community, the primary purpose of the CFJ is to help raise the funds necessary to support our four projects (Domestic Violence Legal Services Project, Veterans Legal Services Project, Immigration Legal Assistance Project, and AIDS Legal Services Project). Year after year, your CFJ Board Members, in cooperation with those from the LACBA, work to provide the funds needed to assist approximately 18,000 underprivileged Los Angeles residents with their legal problems. Previously the Charity Golf Tournament netted nearly $400,000 for our projects. However, this year with your help, our new LA based venue of MountainGate Country Club and our focus on Networking, we increased our annual average earnings by 50%.
Our 10th Annual tournament is already scheduled for April 8, 2019, at MountainGate Country Club. We have serious stretch goals for next year so please, please plan to sign up early and to become a major contributor.
We would like to offer a special thank you to each of our sponsors including: Gibson Dunn, Buchalter, DivcoWest, Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie, Proskauer, Chesler McCaffrey, CommonWealth Partners, Premier Business Centers, CBRE Geoff Martin, Coalition Court Reporters, First Legal, United Litigation Discovery, Veritext Legal Solutions, JAMS, Thomas Law Offices, Fronteo, The Sanborn Team, Arts Table, Margo’s, The OP Café and Ashland Hill Santa Monica.
