LACBA Installs Michael E. Meyer as its President
Installation Reception Raises Over $75,000 for LACBA’s Domestic Violence Legal Services Project
The Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA) installed Michael E. Meyer as its 2017-2018 president on Monday, December 18, 2017 at an elegant reception held at the beautiful Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, with proceeds supporting LACBA’s Domestic Violence Legal Services Project.

LACBA is sad to announce that Patricia Holt, former director of its Lawyer Referral Service and recipient of LACBA’s Benjamin Aranda III Outstanding Public Service Award, passed away on October 26, 2017, at the age of 80.

Veterans Project Helps Navy Veteran Obtain Dismissal of Two Cases and Restoration of Drivers License
Mr. Tremmelle Jenkins is a veteran of the United States Navy. He enlisted in November 1979 and was discharged after three years of service.
After returning from service, Tremmelle began to struggle with a multitude of issues, including substance abuse, unemployment, and homelessness. Tremmelle successfully underwent treatment at a Southern California Veterans Administration facility, and has been sober now for 27 years.

After 9/11, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld urged President Bush to bomb Iraq although that country had nothing to do with the worst domestic attack since Pearl Harbor. When counterterrorism coordinator Richard Clarke remonstrated, "No, no, al-Qaeda is in Afghanistan," Rumsfeld famously replied: "There aren't any good targets in Afghanistan."
