CFJ Board Member Colleen Hart to Receive 2017 Century City Chamber of Commerce Women of Achievement Award
LACBA congratulates Counsel for Justice Board Member Colleen Hart, who will be presented with the Century City Chamber of Commerce 2017 Women of Achievement Award, on Tuesday, September 19th at 5:30 p.m., at the InterContinental Los Angeles Century City Hotel.
A U. S. Navy veteran, Ms. Hart volunteers with LACBA’s Veterans Legal Services Project and leads a team of volunteers from Proskauer Rose LLP, where she is a partner, to assist local veterans to remove legal barriers to employment, including clearing tickets and warrants, expungement of criminal convictions and reinstating driver’s licenses.
While the penalty for a ticket may start as a small fine, left unattended it can, over time, accrue additional penalties and fees, often resulting in an arrest warrant. Any warrant or criminal conviction on veteran’s record may prevent employment. Navigating the legal system is complicated and extremely difficult without legal assistance.
