ALSP-logo ALSP Volunteer Navigates 13 Year Path to Citizenship for HIV+ Client From El Salvador

Ally Bolour, a member of LACBA’s Immigration & Nationality Law Section, represented an HIV+ pro bono client, “LN,” for 13 years until he became a U.S. citizen. In 1989, at the height of a brutal civil war, LN fled El Salvador with his mother and sisters. While the rest of his family became U.S. citizens, LN’s application for residency stalled and was eventually denied when he tested HIV+.
