 140th Anniversary Gala LACBA Celebrates 140 Years of Service to the Los Angeles Legal Community

More than 300 judicial officers, attorneys, government officials, and other dignitaries came together to celebrate the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s 140-year legacy of leadership in the Los Angeles legal community at the its 140-Year Anniversary and Awards Gala on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at the beautiful City Club Los Angeles.

 Diversity Pledge Thumb Invitation to Pledge: LACBA's Renewed Commitment to Increase Diversity in the Legal Profession

LACBA invites law firms, businesses, public legal departments, law schools, public service organizations and governmental agencies to join in its renewed commitment to increase diversity in the legal profession. 

Joining is easy. Adopt the Statement of Goals and Principles for the Legal Profession with Respect to Recruitment, Retention, and Promotion of Attorneys that are Members of Historically Underrepresented Groups and agree to facilitate three actions from the List of Best Diversity Practices. Thereafter, each pledged signatory will be showcased on LACBA’s website and potentially additional means.

 Conference of Delegates Thumb Call for Volunteers: Delegates to the Conference of California Bar Associations

You are invited to apply for membership on LACBA's Delegation to the 2019 Conference of California Bar Associations (CCBA).

CCBA brings together attorneys from across the state representing diverse backgrounds, experience, and expertise to seek, debate, and promote creative, nonpartisan legislative solutions to law-related issues for the benefit of all Californians. Following the annual conference, CCBA works to mold the legislative agenda in Sacramento by having its lobbyist work with California legislators on bills based directly on the resolutions passed at the conference.

 Dialogues On Freedom Thumb Save the Date: Dialogues on Freedom—March 14-15, 2019
LACBA, in collaboration with the Constitutional Rights Foundation, Los Angeles Superior Court, and Los Angeles Unified School District, is asking judges, attorneys, and law school students to Save the Dates of Thursday, March 14, and Friday, March 15, 2019, to participate in the 18th Annual Dialogues on Freedom. The program challenges high school students to debate the balance of individual freedom and security using volunteer driven prompts on free speech, the right to privacy, and dress codes, among others, to encourage students to consider how the concepts of freedom, law, and justice impact their daily lives.

LACBA Counsel for Justice and the Domestic Violence Legal Services Project (DVP) would like to thank each of the volunteers, firms, and organizations who contributed to the success of #LACBA_DVP #31DaysofAwareness social media awareness campaign. Through their efforts, we raised more than $33,000 to support DVP’s work with domestic violence victims at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in downtown Los Angeles in conjunction with October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
