Criminal Law and Procedure
Evidence that a victim had previously threatened or harmed others is relevant to a defendant's claim of self-defense only if the defendant knew of the victim's prior threatening conduct. A trial court did not err in refusing to issue a defendant's requested instruction that a jury consider a victim's prior threatening conduct in determining whether the defendant had acted in self-defense where the defendant was unaware of the victim's prior threatening conduct.
