Other Volunteer Opportunities

In addition to LACBA's own legal services projects, we'd like to make you aware of other opportunities for additional volunteer work:

Become a Court Appointed Special Advocate through CASA of Los Angeles.

CASA of Los Angeles is a nonprofit organization that recruits, trains, and supports community members to serve as volunteer advocates for children in the foster care system in L.A. County.  CASA volunteers work one-on-one with a child in the foster care system, gathering information and making recommendations about how to serve the child’s best interests in both the courtroom and the community.  As sworn officers of the court, CASA volunteers visit the child with whom they are paired, interact with professionals involved in a child’s case, investigate specific issues that the court has identified as needing further inquiry, and make recommendations directly to the court—all with the goal of ensuring the child’s best interests are being heard.   Volunteers focus on educational needs, permanent placement, medical treatment, and resources necessary for an independent and successful future.  For more information, please visit www.casala.org or call (323) 859-2888.
