“I Am Aware” in Support of Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Please join us in supporting the Domestic Violence Legal Assistance Project’s “#IAmAware” campaign in conjunction with National Domestic Violence Awareness Month this October.

Are You Aware?
--One in four women report being a victim of intimate partner violence in their lifetime.

In 2018, the Domestic Violence Legal Services Project (DVP) assisted over 4,700 victims of violence obtain potentially life-saving restraining orders.

Are You Aware?
--Fatality rates are highest within two weeks after the victim leaves the batterer.

DVP has a 98 percent success rate in approvals of temporary restraining order applications filed.

This October, we will run the “#IAmAware” campaign highlighting the need for awareness of domestic violence and the role DVP plays in assisting victims in conjunction with National Domestic Violence Awareness Month this October.  As part of these efforts we are seeking sponsors for each day in the month of October.  Sponsorship levels will allow you to choose increasing levels of recognition in our social media campaign, LACBA’s website, Los Angeles Lawyer magazine, and more, based on the sponsorship level you select.

LACBA’s Domestic Violence Legal Services Project (DVP) helps thousands of Angelinos every year who are victims of domestic violence to obtain restraining orders from the Los Angeles Superior Court.

Last year alone, over 4,700 victims of violence came to DVP seeking help. Many were granted temporary restraining orders, which not only provide life-saving protection to victims, but also assist the LAPD and LA County Sheriff’s Department by providing another tool to deal with the numerous domestic violence calls they must handle on a daily basis.  That is why police officers, sheriff’s deputies, and county hospitals regularly send victims to the DVP to seek help.

In order to continue to provide them with ongoing services, we need your help!

In conjunction with Domestic Violence Awareness Month this October, our “#IAmAware” campaign will feature brief stories from victims and volunteers, as well as local statistics on the domestic violence crisis in our community.  We will also highlight those firms/organizations who join us as Platinum and Gold level sponsors.

The purpose of this campaign is to raise awareness of DVP and the role it plays in helping victims of domestic violence obtain the legal protection they need to have an opportunity to have a safer life and to raise funds to support the ongoing work of DVP.

Now that you are Aware, will you please join us as a “#IAmAware” sponsor?
