Eighth Annual DRS Awards Dinner Are Being Held on November 30, 2000 at Regal Biltmore Hotel

Dispute Resolution Services, Inc. (DRS) will hold its Eighth Annual DRS Awards Dinner on November 30, 2000 at the Regal Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.

The Awards Dinner honors individuals and organizations for their contributions to ADR, recognizes DRS' many accomplishments and contributions to community and neighborhood conflict resolution, and raises critically needed funds for its mediation and conciliation services to the general public and to the legal community. Proceeds from the dinner help support DRS community, school/youth, consumer, and court-based mediation services in its efforts to help others find solutions to their disputes.

DRS is the alternative dispute resolution (ADR) project of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and has become one of the most comprehensive, effective non-profit dispute resolution providers in the nation, winning numerous awards including the center for Public Resources Legal Program Award.

The Eighth Annual Awards Dinner is an opportunity to honor outstanding volunteer, corporate, and judicial award recipients, as well as to highlight DRS' 22 years of service to the many diverse communities of Los Angeles. DRS will recognize the achievements of the following for their special contributions to conflict prevention and conflict resolution: Mike Farrell, actor and human rights activist, will receive the DRS Associates Louis M. Brown Conflict Prevention Award for his commitment to social justice, and non-violent ways of conflict resolution; June Lehrman, arbitrator and mediator, will receive the Griffin Bell Volunteer Service Award for her volunteer service to organizations such as DRS and the Southern California Mediation Association; Kaufman & Broad Home Corporation, will receive the DRS Corporate ADR Award for its innovative and extensive use of ADR among both customers and employees.

The event starts with a reception at 6:00 p.m., moving to dinner at 7:00 p.m. Press is welcome. Registration fees are $250.00 per person, with DRS volunteers receiving a discounted rate of $175.00 per person.
