DRS offers the following services to benefit the community:

Community Mediation Services
To the public at large, including individuals, families, small businesses, and community and neighborhood organizations, DRS provides an affordable and accessible way to resolve disputes through mediation. For the convenience of community residents, DRS offices are available in downtown Los Angeles, West Hollywood, Long Beach, Pomona and in Pasadena. Typical issues addressed in community mediation are:
- Consumer/Merchant
- Domestic Relations
- Employer/Employee
- Environmental
- Family/Divorce
- Landlord/Tenant
- Neighbors
- Property Ownership
- Small Claims
- Zoning and Land Use
DRS requests a nominal fee, which is waived in cases of need for mediation services.

Youth Peer Mediation and Conflict Resolution Program
The DRS Youth Peer Mediation and Conflict Resolution Program serves youth in schools and school districts throughout Los Angeles County. It is designed to reduce and prevent acts of frustration and violence among youth through four activities:
- Student Peer Mediation
- Conflict Resolution Education
- Parent Education Seminars
- Teacher and Faculty Training
The program offers an intensive 25-hour Peer Mediation Training Course, conflict workshops, and holds a graduation and recognition event for students and volunteers participating in the program. Additionally, the program offers ongoing dispute resolution consulting and training services for schools, educational and other organizations, youth groups and families throughout the school calendar year.

Rainbow Mediation
Rainbow Mediation provides mediation and facilitation services to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities of Southern California. The program office is offered through our West Hollywood Community Services office. This is a service that participants can trust and provides the opportunity to settle conflicts outside of court. Typical issues addressed are:
- Cohabitation Arrangements
- Domestic Partnership Dissolution
- Child Support and Child Custody
- Parent and non-biological parent rights
- HIV/AIDS Issues
- Employment Disputes
