Membership Benefits
The Labor and Employment Law Section is the nation’s premiere organization serving labor and employment law professionals. The Section offers more educational programs and other activities than any other organization of its kind in the country. It provides its more than 1,200 members an opportunity to meet and share ideas informally with employment law practitioners, union and management representatives, government personnel, arbitrators, and academicians. As an added benefit, members receive discounts for most of the Section’s meetings and programs, as well as its publications.
Membership consists of lawyers representing management, unions, and employees, as well as neutral arbitrators and governmental officials. Associate memberships in the Section are now available to non-lawyers, including union representatives, human resources professionals, risk management and security employees, and law students.
While Section membership is of obvious value to those who specialize in labor and employment law, membership is also beneficial for general practitioners, business attorneys, corporate counsel, and public interest advocates.
The Section sponsors the annual Southern California Labor and Employment Law Symposium and other educational programs dealing with various aspects of labor and employment law, including Saturday morning CLE programs at Southwestern Law School and various dinner programs throughout the year. It also has various specific interest committees, including in-house counsel, neutrals, employee rights and responsibilities, and labor relations. The section sponsors an annual out-of-town retreat.
