The Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA) has, among its purposes, to promote the administration of justice. In furtherance of this purpose, LACBA traditionally has been actively involved in supporting a qualified and competent judiciary and free and fair judicial elections. That is why it established the Judicial Elections Evaluation Committee (JEEC), the State Appellate Judicial Evaluation Committee (SAJEC), and the Fair Judicial Election Practices Committee.
The SAJEC has evaluated each of the 11 justices of the Court of Appeal (Second Appellate District – Los Angeles) as QUALIFIED for the office for which s/he is running. The justices are not running against one another; the vote as to each justice is whether s/he should be elected to a new term. The Supreme Court justices were not evaluated.
