Calendar of Live Programs
LACBA provides more than 250 affordable live programs annually.


The LACBA 2015 CLE-in-a-Box meets all of your mandatory CLE requirements. The 25 hour audio CLE program includes self-study and participatory, substance abuse, elimination of bias and ethics. CLE-in-a-Box is the easiest and most convenient way to meet your CLE requirements.

Online Courses
With its own video streaming platform, LACBA offers hundreds of CLE programs, including ethics and practice specific programs, delivered directly to your home or office computer. The Los Angeles County Bar Association also partners with third-party vendors, such as Manexa, to distribute LACBA's CLE on Demand courses.

Downloadable, MP3 formatted CLE courses are offered through Manexa, an official LACBA member benefit provider.

LACBA's acclaimed Trial Advocacy Project (TAP) certificate courses give attorneys comprehensive, in-depth trial advocacy training and experience.

30-Hour Basic Mediation Training
This course introduces the core principles and methods of Alternative Dispute Resolution. It provides a strong foundation in mediation skills through lecture, small group exercises and role-play. Rich in both theory and practice, the training covers the nature of conflict, structure and management of the mediation process, intake and convening, mediation models, cultural awareness and diversity, legal requirements and ethics, maintaining neutrality, communication skills, negotiation, breaking impasse, closure and drafting agreements. Participants receive an overview of various practice settings. The 30-Hour Basic Mediation Training fulfills the training requirements of the California Dispute Resolution Programs Act. Combine this training with our Advanced Mediation Skills Practicum to fulfill the training requirements of most court mediation panels. This course is offered in cooperation with the Los Angeles County Bar Association. 26.75 hours of CLE credit, including 2.75 hours of Ethics and 1 hour of Elimination of Bias.

Advanced Mediation Skills Practicum (18 Hours)
This highly interactive course includes extensive practice and coaching in advanced mediation skills and a minimum 10 hours of litigated case training, including lecture, role play, observation, coaching and feedback. Lecture topics include assessing the conflict, consensus building, problem-solving techniques and managing multi-party, multi-issue agendas, legal ethics, who is at the table – analysis and implications for process, and distributive and integrative bargaining, using case studies from a range of areas (e.g., personal injury, employment, contracts, real estate, property). The practice of mediation is highly focused on the interactions not only between the disputants but also between the disputants and the third-party neutral. The Advanced Skills Practicum aims to develop more advanced skill sets of the reflective practitioner as well as key elements, principles and strategies in interventions of the interactive processes in mediation. Participants practice advanced skill sets and participate heavily in role plays and other group facilitations. Combine this training with our 30-Hour Basic Mediation Training to fulfill the training requirements of most court mediation panels. This course is offered in cooperation with the Los Angeles County Bar Association. 18 hours of CLE credit, including 3 hours of Ethics and 1 hour of Elimination of Bias.
