The Los Angeles County Bar Association is dedicated to helping increase access to justice. Helping people get the legal information and assistance they need or trying to resolve a problem before formal legal action is taken is our goal. We do this through a number of public service projects which provide legal or law-related services to the public for a modest fee -- and in some cases, for free.

| Pro Bono Tax Services |

Under the supervision of an experienced tax professional, student clinicians (both undergraduate and graduate tax students) serve low-income taxpayers who face a dispute with the Internal Revenue Service. Student clinicians receive instruction on the intricacies of substantive tax law and tax practice and procedure, and apply this knowledge to resolve clients’ tax matters. Tax student clinicians also educate taxpayers in our community about tax matters by participating in numerous community outreach programs featuring a wide array of tax issues.
Undergraduate and graduate tax students are provided the opportunity to handle various aspects of controversies with the Internal Revenue Service, including interviewing clients, preparing cases for appeals conferences and appearing at the conferences themselves, and negotiating settlements with the Internal Revenue Service.
The Bookstein Tax Clinic provides a service to the community by representing for no charge taxpayers who are unable to afford professional representation. Visit our website at: http://northridgeacctis.com/bookstein/
