Celebrating New Attorneys and Members
It all begins with membership! Every year, LACBA celebrates attorneys newly admitted to the bar by granting them a complimentary membership and hosting a reception that showcases LACBA's magnitude and reach in the Los Angeles legal community. The event introduces attorneys to the resources we provide for your legal career, and this year guests came from as far away as New York and Florida. The reception hosted more than 700 attorneys and guided them through information and networking tables that included involvement in practice area sections, employment, experience and pro bono opportunities, CLE headquarters, publications, our public service projects, and the Los Angeles County Bar Foundation. Guests took advantage of free professional headshots, business cards, free section memberships, and gift cards from The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.® The Barristers capped off the evening by hosting a fun after-party to celebrate the successful accomplishments of the new attorneys. Thank you to our volunteers for welcoming our newest members into the LACBA community by inviting them into your sections and projects. Click here to see pictures of the event!   (more)

Where to Turn with Questions on Legal Ethics
California attorneys regularly face questions of legal ethics arising from conflicts of interest with current or former clients, issues of confidentiality and attorney-client privilege, discovery obligations, and communication of significant facts and developments to clients. The consequences of violating ethics rules can be severe, including discipline by the State Bar, disqualification, civil liability, money sanctions, and fee forfeiture. So where can attorneys turn with questions about legal ethics?    (more)
