Foundation Installs New Officers for 2012-13

The Los Angeles County Bar Foundation installed its 2012-13 officers at a July 10 luncheon at the City Club in downtown Los Angeles. Pictured at right, the new officers are Andres C. Hurwitz, senior vice president; Laura A. Seigle, president-elect; Noah Graff, president; Susan Koehler Sullivan, immediate past president; Eric McDonough, secretary; and Peter Hsiao, vice president/treasurer.

This past June, the directors voted to award 24 grants totaling $290,000. Grants were awarded to the following LACBA-operated projects: Center for Civic Mediation—School Peer Mediation and Conflict Resolution Program, AIDS Legal Services Project, Domestic Violence Project, and Immigration Legal Assistance Project. The Foundation is able to make these grants only through the generosity of individuals, law firms, corporations, and foundations that respond to the Foundation’s annual fundraising campaign and those LACBA members who respond to the request for $50 that appears on the annual LACBA dues statement. Your decision to include a gift with your 2013 dues payment will be greatly appreciated.

The LACBF Board of Directors would like to express special thanks to all LACBA members who made a donation in response to the solicitation that appeared on LACBA’s 2012 dues statement. The total received was approximately $77,000. Your gift really does make a difference!

New endowment named for Don Mike Anthony. Don Mike Anthony (at left), a beloved member of the Los Angeles legal community and former president of both the Los Angeles County Bar Foundation (1999-2000) and Los Angeles County Bar Association (2009-10), passed away on June 1, 2012 after a long illness. In his memory, an endowment has been created to honor Don Mike’s passion for the Foundation and service provided to the community. (See below to find out how to make a donation.)
