Legal Community Raises More Than $300,000 in One Month for Los Angeles Regional Food Bank
Participating law firms and other groups in the Los Angeles legal community raised more than $300,000 in funds and donated more than 1,600 hours of time volunteering at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank during a four-week span from April 18 through May 14, 2011.
The 3rd Annual Food from the Bar campaign invited the legal community to raise much-needed food and funds for the food bank, which provides food and products to assist those facing hunger in Los Angeles County.
A reception held at the conclusion of the campaign at the Los Angeles County Bar Association offices recognized the many law firms and other organizations that participated.
“Once again, this campaign has far exceeded our expectations, especially in this economy,” said Michael Flood, President/CEO of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. “We’re extremely grateful to all the participants in this campaign. Because of their combined efforts, many people in our community affected by the economy won’t have to go hungry.”
A number of individual awards were presented to firms based on the amount of food collection, fundraising, or volunteer service. In addition, firms had the opportunity to rank in different levels based on their overall contributions to the effort.
