Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Charles W. McCoy Jr. will receive LACBA’s 2011 Outstanding Jurist Award on May 24 at a luncheon at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.

LACBA recognizes Judge McCoy for his distinguished career on the bench and his guidance of the Los Angeles Superior Court while serving as presiding judge through last year’s judiciary budget crisis. He was instrumental in helping to save the court more than $13 million and 200 jobs.

During the luncheon, the new judges of the U.S. District Court, Central District, and the Los Angeles Superior Court will be introduced. Inductees into LACBA 50 Year Club will also be recognized for their half-century commitment to Los Angeles County Bar Association membership: John H. Brinsley, Hon. Richard P. Byrne (ret.), Hon. Lawrence W. Crispo (ret.), Bertram Fields, Herbert I. Galperson, Seymour Gantman, Gerald N. Gordon, Donald M. Hoffman, John D. Hussey, R. Chandler Myers, Kevin O'Connell, Karl M. Samuelian, Sherwin L. Samuels, Alan Stamm, Lillian Tomich, John A. Tucker Jr., Robert R. Waestman, and William J. Zeutzius.

Speakers at the luncheon include California State Assemblymember Mike Feuer, 42nd District; Thomas V. Girardi of Girardi & Keese; and Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Carolyn B. Kuhl.
