LACBA Armed Forces Networking Reception on April 5: Meet Others with Similar Interests, Discuss How to Best Support Military and Veteran Legal Affairs Speakers will include Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Charles W. McCoy Jr., a retired and decorated Marine, and LACBA President Alan Steinbrecher, a retired naval aviator, as well as representatives from other legal organizations with existing veterans’ projects. Each will share information about their organization’s current services to military personnel and veterans. With U.S. servicemen and women stationed in countries around the world and engaged in an active war, there has never been a greater need or opportunity to assist military personnel. Whether they are active, reservists, or veterans, service members are now in need of assistance across a wide range of legally related matters. The LACBA Armed Forces Networking Reception is a chance to meet others with similar interests and to potentially establish a LACBA group to, among other things, address military and veteran legal affairs. The event will also explore how LACBA might coordinate with other existing nonprofit legal services programs serving veterans. The reception, which begins at 6 p.m. at the LACBA Conference Center, is open to lawyers, judges, paralegals, and law students who are veterans, reservists, or active military, or those who have an interest in military affairs.
