Message from the Chair
Friends,
The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act legislation imposes new rules and regulations on a broad spectrum of practitioners in the financial services industry. And, rule making in this area continues to take place. To bring you the latest on this legislation and its effects, we invite you to attend our next program - Impact of the Dodd-Frank Act on Broker Dealer Regulation and Regulation of Investment Advisers - to be held February 24, 2011. Karol Pollock, Assistant Director from SEC's Los Angeles offices, will be speaking at the event. We hope to see you there.
We continue our attempts to bring you helpful and easy-to-access information through these pages. Please see information under the sections on SEC, DOC and Pro Bono matters below. We also invite you to join us on Facebook.
Sincerely,
David C. Eisman, Section Chair

The DOC's Education and Outreach unit is partnering with libraries across the State to deliver financial literacy and investor education information to members of public. The DOC will also partner with the Department of Financial Institutions to promote California Financial Literacy Month (CFLM) in April by attending outreach events, speaking at schools and disseminating information via online and social media outlets. Pro Bono Corner
Several meaningful opportunities to offer pro bono legal services are available in Southern California region. These projects also provide the transactional attorneys opportunities to bring their in-depth expertise in consumer protection laws to the benefit of many who are otherwise unable to afford legal services. Our section encourages its members to volunteer their time. To find out more about current pro bono projects seeking attorneys, please check out the SoCal Pro Bono Center at www.probono.net/ca/socal/
