The Barristers Pro Bono Committee connects Barristers members with pro bono opportunities through collaborations with various legal services programs.
Each year the Committee develops and coordinates educational trainings and pro bono opportunities for Barrister volunteers. Some past projects include a Loan Modification training conducted by a collaboration of legal services providers, which trained 160 Barrister volunteers to assist victims of loan modification scams; the In Re Garcia Ethics Panel, which discussed whether undocumented immigrants may be admitted to the California State Bar; and the yearly Law Day training event, which partners with local non-profit legal organizations to train Barristers in various areas of law with the purpose of increasing pro bono assistance to clients in need.
In 2014, the committee hosted the first Veterans Justice Bus event, which bussed trained volunteers to Lancaster to provide much needed free legal services to veterans.
