Message from the Chair
I am pleased to report that our 43rd Annual Securities Regulation Seminar held on October 29, 2010 was a resounding success. We were honored to have SEC Commissioner Elisse B. Walter, DOC Commissioner Preston DuFauchard and several senior SEC officials and local practitioners attending and speaking at the program, sharing valuable insights on a variety of current topics relating to securities regulation and enforcement, including the Dodd Frank Act and other recent regulatory initiatives. Over 300 persons from law firms, business organizations and government agencies attended the event.
Our next event is our December Mixer scheduled for December 15, 2010 at Casa Downtown. At the event, we will honor California State Controller John Chiang with the section's prestigious Marvin Greene Award in recognition of Controller Chiang's dedication, service and noteworthy contributions made to the Southern California communities over the last several years.
We look forward to seeing you on December 15th at the mixer and the Marvin Greene Award presentation ceremony. Cocktails and food will be served.
Sincerely,
David C. Eisman, Section Chair

Pro Bono News
Public interest organizations have been providing legal services to thousands of indigent members of the Los Angeles community in a variety of consumer law cases. Their services impact people's lives in a meaningful and lasting way. These organizations routinely work with members of the private bar in serving the needs of those who are otherwise unable to bear the costs of defending their rights. There are many such opportunities available which require minimal attorney time and provide a rewarding experience in return. Our section strongly encourages its members to offer their time and expertise to pro bono matters. To learn more about the public interest and legal services organizations and the pro bono opportunities available in the Los Angeles County, please click here.
