County Bar Members Increasingly Join the Technology Trend

Los Angeles, September 30, 1997 - The Los Angeles County Bar Association’s second annual technology survey shows a continuing increasing use of technology by local attorneys.
Among the highlights
Five out of every six Los Angeles area lawyers (83 percent) who responded to the survey had used the Internet in the previous three months, many of them for purposes other than sending e-mail. This is up from 68 percent, from a year ago. Research and news led the list of purposes on the Internet. Also, 81% of attorneys have e-mail and 24%have web sites. Among other technology habits include 87%of attorneys and their family members with cellular phones, up from last year’s 67%.
The County Bar has continued to its increase its use of technology as well. The organization’s award-winning web site has received over 60,000 "hits" on its site since the start of the year, which includes information on court documents, continuing legal education, lawyer referral, mediation, and legal public service projects. The County Bar also has an on-lineexperts listings and a fax-on-demand information retrieval system.
