Judicial Profiles
To be responsive to our members' expressed desire to have access to quality information about the Superior Court judges and commissioners before whom they appear, the Association created this Know Your Judge feature. Our intent is also to respond to the judiciary's desire to have accurate information disseminated about how judges and commissioners expect matters to be conducted in their individual courts, their expectations of the lawyers who appear before them as well as their general views about various aspects of trial practice. With the assistance of the Presiding Judge of the Superior Court, more than 300 bench officers have completed personal profiles consisting of biographical information as well as court practices and expectations.  Click here (members only)

Judicial Interviews
Our Judicial Interview project started in 2001 and we now have over 40 interviews with selected Superior Court bench officers.  These officers agreed to be interviewed by volunteer member litigators.  Summaries of those interviews are posted below.  We have also included the names of the volunteers who graciously gave of their time. Click here (members only)

Los Angeles Superior Court Civil Register
The Association has created a unique program to search the Superior Court's Civil Register.  The Register includes information about general and limited jurisdiction civil cases from all districts, except cases filed in Van Nuys (general jurisdiction) before January 8, 2001. For each case filed, the Superior Court enters a brief description of all documents filed, decisions rendered and proceedings conducted by the Court. The Register also contains a description of the type of case as well as a list of the parties, law firms, referees, mediators, and arbitrators used. Information with regard to how a judge rules on challenges, demurrers and motions is entered along with the number of trial days. (The verdict or judgment is generally not described.) The database can be search in a wide variety of ways. Click here

What Happens On Appeal?
LexisNexis provides a free service to our members to review cases decided by the appellate courts involving specific bench officers. LexisNexis has provided a direct link to its State Case Law database. To access case law by judge click here. You must indicate California in the "Select a source to search" window. When searching only for a particular judge, you can skip down to the box labeled "Judges".  For more inclusive searches follow use the "ENTER SEARCH TERMS" window.  This box can be left blank if a judge's name has been entered below.  Clicking on the SEARCH button will begin the search and a list of cases will appear. By clicking on the case name you can get a full display of the case. If you have never registered before, a FREE registration form will appear prior to the case display opening. Registering with lexisONE is only necessary the first time for those who have not previously done so.
