Installation of LACBA President Alan Steinbrecher Planned for June 24

Alan Steinbrecher will be installed as LACBA’s 2010-11 president on June 24 during a dinner program to be held at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in downtown Los Angeles. In addition to recognizing both the outgoing and incoming LACBA officers and trustees, the event also marks the installation of David Reinert as Barristers 2010-11 president, along with Barristers officers, executive committee, and committee chairs and co-chairs. 

In addition to the installation activities, the following awards will be presented:

Awards will be presented to outstanding volunteers representing the AIDS Legal Services Project—Patricia L. McCabe; the Domestic Violence Project—Dana M. Douglas; the Immigration Legal Assistance Project—Gina Chi Lo; and Dispute Resolution Services—Frank G. Blundo Jr.

President Alan Steinbrecher. Alan Steinbrecher, partner in the firm of Steinbrecher & Span LLP, has more than 30 years of litigation experience, with particular emphasis in business, product liability, and aviation litigation, as well as experience in real estate, employment, and partnership disputes.

He has been the lead trial attorney in numerous federal and state court jury and bench trials as well as commercial, real estate, partnership and international business arbitrations. He has also represented airline and aircraft manufacturers in a variety of cases, including defending claims arising from air crashes, and has a unique expertise in representing airlines during National Transportation Safety Board accident investigations in both the onsite and technical phases.

Steinbrecher is a former U.S. Navy fighter pilot with 177 combat missions flown during the Vietnam War and retired as a captain in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He has served as chair of the Litigation Department of Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker, as chair and executive committee member of LACBA’s Litigation Section, and as a member of LACBA’s Executive Committee and its Blue Ribbon Commission. 

His community involvements include past president of San Marino Schools Foundation and San Marino Little League, vice president of the Board of Trustees of Polytechnic School, Senior Warden of St. Edmunds Episcopal Church, and the Parents Committee of the University of Virginia.

Steinbrecher is a 1977 graduate of Duke University School of Law, where he was an editor of the Duke Law Journal and a member of the Moot Court Board, and a 1968 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dinner information. The dinner takes place at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, 135 N. Grand Avenue, in downtown Los Angeles, with a reception beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by the dinner and program at 7:00 p.m.
