December 2009 • Vol. 29 No. 11 | An E-Publication of the Los Angeles County Bar Association Highlights: Stay Informed of Court Filings in Los Angeles County with Daily Case Filings Elert

LACBA members may subscribe to any or all three Elert products.

LACBA’s Daily Case Filings Elert—also called the Filings Elert or Daily Elerts—lists all general jurisdiction superior court civil cases that have been entered into the docket system the previous day by the superior court clerks. Delivered by e-mail within 24 hours of posting, the Filings Elert provides information on the parties, type of case, and counsel involved.

Previously, the Elerts did not include civil cases filed in the family court and the probate court. That has now been remedied by two new and separate Elert e-mails: the Daily Family Case Elert and the Daily Probate Case Elert.

The Elerts provide attorneys critical information about the parties involved in lawsuits, frequently several days before the defendant is served. This advanced information empowers attorneys to monitor any legal action that may be filed against their clients. Attorneys can take advantage of this early intelligence by setting the wheels in motion to protect their clients. Attorneys may also, consistent with the Rules of Professional Conduct, contact potential or former clients who have become involved in litigation.

The court filings listed in the Elerts are organized by case type so that it is simple to peruse the court activity of the day as well as to track any of the opposing counsel involved in litigation.
