1998 Judicial Evaluation Results

Los Angeles, May 31, 1998 - Los Angeles County residents will be voting on numerous issues, including judicial races, on Tuesday, June 2, 1998. Polls will be open from 7am to 8pm.

The Los Angeles County Bar Association's Judicial Election Evaluations Committee is charged with the task of evaluating candidates running in contested elections for the Los Angeles County Superior and Municipal Court. 

After a lengthy three-month evaluation through questionnaires, interviews, additional materials, and in some cases, appeals, final ratings are released to the public. 

Candidates may receive one of three ratings. The following standards are applied in rating candidates: well qualified, qualified, and not qualified. A "Well Qualified" or "Not Qualified" rating requires a 60 percent majority vote of the members present. 

Superior Court Candidates

Having completed its investigations and deliberations, the Judicial Election Evaluations Committee reports its final evaluations for the candidates for the following Superior Court offices:

Alexander Williams Well Qualified
Office No. 43
Burton Bach Qualified
Gary Klausner Well Qualified
Office No. 51
John D. Harris Well Qualified
William R. "Bill" Torres Well Qualified
Office No. 69
James Anthony Kaddo Qualified
Andrew S. Zucker Not Qualified

Municipal Court Candidates

Having completed its investigations and deliberations, the Judicial Election Evaluations Committee reports its final evaluations for the candidates for the following Municipal Court offices:
