Join the Litigation Section’s Trial Practice Inn of Court

Find out about the September 2 open house, the membership applicationthe Inn’s officers and board members, and the 2009-10 program schedule.

The American Inns of Court were the brainchild of Chief Justice Warren E. Burger, who wanted to use the British Inns as a model for American judges and attorneys to help foster excellence in professionalism, ethics, civility, and legal skills in their legal communities.

Sponsored by LACBA’s Litigation Section, the Trial Practice Inn of Court gives you a special opportunity to break bread and learn side-by-side with some of the finest jurists and practitioners in our community—besides earning MCLE credits, enjoying a gourmet meal, and mingling at our free cocktail hour receptions.

Meetings are designed to promote social interaction, professional relationships, and camaraderie in a setting of education and trial skills development. The primary focus is on sharing experiences between seasoned members and less-experienced practitioners, and in fostering a meaningful bond within our legal community. Not a fraternal order, a social club, a course in continuing legal education, a lecture series, or an apprenticeship system, the Trial Practice Inn of Court is designed to partake a little bit in the best of each of these concepts, combine them into something much more meaningful and rewarding, and offer an Inn that is unique to the Los Angeles legal community. We hope you will join us!

Our FREE  “meet and greet” open house will be held September 2, 2009. Thereafter, members can attend eight monthly meetings throughout the year, each beginning at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail hour reception, followed by a gourmet catered dinner and an interesting and entertaining one-hour educational program ending at 8:30 p.m. sharp.

Membership dues* for the Inn of Court are $375, which includes eight CLE credits, all eight dinners, and two reception drink tickets for every program. Membership for judges is complimentary, and attorneys in government or in their first two years of practice join at a discounted rate of $195. (Member judges are encouraged as mentors to bring a law clerk or judicial research attorney as their free guest.) All programs, including the free kick-off reception, will be held at the Los Angeles County Bar Association, 1055 W. 7th St., Suite 2700, Los Angeles, CA 90017. Join now!
