Installation of Association President Don Mike Anthony Set for June 17

Evening includes presentation of Shattuck-Price Award to Associate Justice Laurie Zelon, California Court of Appeal

Don Mike Anthony will be installed as the Association’s 2009-10 president on June 17 during a dinner program to be held at the Jonathan Club in downtown Los Angeles. In addition to recognizing both the outgoing and incoming Association officers and trustees, the event also marks the installation of David Swift as Barristers 2009-10 president, along with Barristers officers, executive committee, and committee chairs and co-chairs. 

In addition to the installation activities, the presentation of the Shattuck-Price Outstanding Lawyer Award, the Association’s highest honor, will be made to Associate Justice Laurie Zelon, California Court of Appeal.

The following LACBA awards also will be presented: Samuel L. Williams Outstanding Trustee Award to Linda L. Curtis and Beatriz D. Dieringer; Patricia D. Phillips Outstanding Committee Service Award to Ann I. Park; and Matthew S. Rae Jr. Outstanding Section Leader Award to Jeffery J. Daar.

The Hon. Benjamin Aranda III Outstanding Public Service Awards will be presented that evening to outstanding volunteers representing the Barristers AIDS Legal Services Project/HALSA—Michael P. Flattery; the Barristers Domestic Violence Project—Alan K. Steinbrecher and Lisa M. Atwood; and the Immigration Legal Assistance Project—Brigit Greeson Alvarez and Silvia Martinez.

President Don Mike Anthony. Don Mike Anthony is a partner with the firm of Hahn & Hahn LLP in Pasadena, where he specializes in litigation and appeals, family law, ethics and professional responsibility, and eminent domain.

Upon graduation from Occidental College where he received his bachelor’s degree, Anthony attended UCLA School of Law where he earned his LL.B., served as Associate Editor of the UCLA Law Review, and became a member of the Order of the Coif.

In addition to published works on attorney’s fees and tax aspects of marital dissolutions, Anthony has been a panelist for numerous classes and seminars on attorney’s fees, preparing witnesses, civil procedure and evidence, family law practice fundamentals, preparing successful jury instructions, discovery, and law and motion.

His many professional associations and memberships include the Los Angeles County Bar Association (president-elect, senior vice president, vice president, treasurer, board of trustees); the Los Angeles County Bar Foundation (president, director); Pasadena Bar Association (president); American Bar Association (member, Commission on Evaluation of Disciplinary Enforcement; member, Standing Committee on Professional Discipline; member, Joint Sub-Committee on Lawyer Regulation); State Bar of California (vice-president; board of governors; member, Client Security Fund Commission; chair, Client Security Fund Commission); State Bar Court (member, Executive Committee; member, Review Department); Judicial Council of California; and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (president, Southern California Chapter).
