May 2009 • Vol. 29 No. 5 | An E-Publication of the Los Angeles County Bar Association Highlights: LACBA Section Newsletters Arrive Electronically

Past issues are archived online.

One of the most dynamic membership benefits is the variety of newsletters that LACBA sends electronically to section members every month. Active sections or “practice areas” pull the pieces together to create compelling, practical content--including information on the most recent developments in specific areas of the law--that arrives in subscribers’ e-mail in-boxes.

For example, the Trusts and Estates and Real Property Sections each issue a newsletter every month containing recently published cases, practice tips, new legislation, upcoming events, and guides to recent California statutes.

Other section newsletters cover in-depth news about a practice area on a quarterly basis, such as Criminal DocketReal Property ReviewBusiness Law Update, and International Law.

When an attorney becomes a LACBA member and joins a particular section, subscription to that section’s newsletter happens automatically.

Non-section newsletters written by seasoned attorneys provide professional advice in the form of focused practice tips, such as the monthly One Minute Negotiation Tips or Your First or Appellate Tips for Trial Lawyers. Any LACBA member can subscribe to one of these non-section newsletters.

Once these newsletters are ready to go out, a copy is archived on the corresponding section Web page, thus creating a gold mine of legal references through which members can search.

The easiest way to subscribe—or to unsubscribe—is to send an e-mail request to LACBA’s Member Service Department at or to call (213) 896-6560.
