County Bar Installs New Leaders on June 30th

Guest speaker - Hon. Dennis W. Archer, Mayor of Detroit, MI 

Lee Smalley Edmon, new Los Angeles County Bar Association President, and other LACBA officers to be installed on June 30th.
The Los Angeles County Bar Association will be holding its 1998 Installation Dinner on Tuesday, June 30th at the Regal Biltmore Hotel (506 S. Grand Ave., 6pm reception - 7pm dinner) for the 1998-99 board of trustees officers and new board members. Guest speaker is the Hon. Dennis W. Archer, Mayor of Detroit, Michigan.

The incoming board of trustees officers include: Lee Smalley Edmon of Dewey Ballantine as President; Patricia M. Schnegg of Knapp, Marsh, Jones & Doran as President-Elect; Rex S. Heinke of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher as Senior Vice-President; and Roland L. Coleman, Jr. of Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker LLP as Vice-President. New board of trustees-at-large include: Michael P. Judge, Ronald Low, Edith R. Matthai, Mark A. Neubauer, Kent L. Richland, and Jan A. Yoss. New trustees representing affiliated bars include: Roberta M. Yang, Southern California Chinese Lawyers Association; Jess Womack, John M. Langston Bar Association; Leon Bennett, San Fernando Valley Bar Association; Jeffrey Briggs, Century City Bar Association; David Evans, Beverly Hills Bar Association; Clark Gross, Lawyers’ Club of Los Angeles County; Steven J. Kleifield, Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles; Samuel Muir, Pasadena Bar Association; and Linda Peterson, Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles. New trustees appointed to represent sections include: Terry Bork, Criminal Justice Section; Patricia Duncan, Intellectual Property & Entertainment Law Section; Victor Marmon, Real Property Section; and Alan Steinbrecher, Litigation Section. 

Awards will be also presented to Miriam Krinsky (SAMUEL L. WILLIAMS OUTSTANDING TRUSTEE AWARD); John Kronstadt (PATRICIA D. PHILLIPS OUTSTANDING COMMITTEE SERVICE AWARD); Victor Marmon (MATTHEW S. RAE, JR. OUTSTANDING SECTION LEADER AWARD); and Richard Millen, DRS - Richard Berger, HALSA - Margaret O’Hara, Domestic Violence Project - David Ackerly, Homeless Project (HON. BENJAMIN ARANDA III OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE AWARDS). 

Proceeds of the Board of Trustees installation dinner will benefit LACBA Dispute Resolution Services, Inc. (DRS) and LACBA Projects, Inc., a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, non-profit corporation of the Los Angeles County Bar Association. LACBA Projects, Inc. is composed of the Immigration Legal Assistance Project, Domestic Violence Counseling Project, Barristers AIDS Legal Services Project and the Homeless Assistance Project. 

The  Los Angeles County Bar Association is the largest local voluntary bar association in the nation with more than 23,000 attorney members. The Los Angeles County Bar is extensively engaged in advancing the administration of justice, promoting many public service projects, and meeting the professional needs of lawyers.
